Steve Sheinkin Author Visit at GRMS
On Wednesday, March 29th, author Steven Sheinkin will visit Glen Rock Middle School. Mr. Sheinkin writes fast-paced, historical nonfiction for middle and high school students. Sheinkin is a three-time National Book Award finalist and has won many other literary awards. His novels include, The Port Chicago 50: Disaster, Mutiny, and the Fight for Civil Rights, The Notorious Benedict Arnold, Lincoln’s Grave Robbers, Bomb: The Race to Build-and Steal-The World's Most Dangerous Weapon, and Most Dangerous: Daniel Ellsberg and the Secret History of the Vietnam War. His most recent work, Undefeated: Jim Thorpe and the Carlisle Indian School Football Team, is an astonishing underdog sports story. It's the story of a group of young men who came together, facing overwhelming obstacles, both on and off the field, and their absolute refusal to accept defeat. You can view some of his other titles and find out more about Mr. Sheinkin at This program was facilitated by Lauren Mitchell, Middle School Media Specialist and was made possible by the generous support of both the Glen Rock HSA and the Glen Rock Educational Foundation.
Cartoons delight people of all ages. They can be found in printed material such as newspapers and comic books, or viewed as a movie or television show. They are created for a variety of reasons – politics, entertainment or advertising. This collection showcases a wide variety of cartoons, from Benjamin Franklin’s “Join or Die”, the first cartoon published in an American newspaper to Disney’s iconic Mickey Mouse. Examine the cartoons in progress by Allen Milgrom and Hy Eisman and then find the “Ninas” in Al Hirschfeld’s wonderful inked cartoons.

This exhibit is sponsored by TIC TOC THEATRE & ART, a volunteer organization created to provide fine and performing arts experiences to students.
